Gatlinburg, TN

Gatlinburg 2016

Another trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. After our fifth time here, we decided to visit Dollywood, and skip our usual stops like Parrot Mountain and the Aquarium. But we always have our favorite stops like the Pancake Pantry, Huck Finn's and the Exotic Petting Zoo.
Mom and Dad visited us out here for a few days this year. So we got to enjoy some good eats and time with them, too.
Ah yes, the traditional picture by the Assblowers Shop. Check out the 2004 and 2012 pictures.
Titanic Museum
The Titanic Museum was an interesting attraction as everyone is given a boarding pass with information about an actual passenger from that fateful voyage. It tells you who they were, where they were from and in what location of the ship their living quarters were. At the end of the trip through the museum, you get to find out if the person on your boarding pass survived or perished.
Deer Park Exotic Petting Zoo
Cute, yes. But no, we can't take him home!!
Go-Kart Racing
The boys got to do some go-kart racing again, but this time, the competition was a little more heated. Lots of knuckleheads being rammy on the track, so not as good of a time this time around.
Laurel Falls
I took a hike to Laurel Falls towards the end of a long day. I couldn't talk anyone else into going with me. It was a nice short hike. Some other hikers said they had seen a bear nearby on the trail, but I didn't see it.
Ober Gatlinburg
The boys and I took a ride on the aerial tramway from downtown Gatlinburg up to Ober Gatlinburg, a ski resort and amusement park in the mountains. The ride is 2.1 miles long and gives you a fantastic view of the Smokies! What was also neat is that the path took us right past Laurel Point Resort, where we stayed while on vacation.
Dollywood Splash Country
Our last couple of days we spent in Dollywood. The first day was at Splash Country. We enjoyed the wave pool and water slides. It was quite hot, so the water was very refreshing.
Dollywood
We had a good time hitting the roller coasters and water ride on our last day. The newest roller coaster, Lightning Rod, was broke down, but luckily there were plenty of other ones to ride. Steffanie talked to an older lady who loves the roller coasters and she told her that she'd already been on Lightning Rod. She said it was so fast, that it was almost too hard to even enjoy!
The pictures below are hilarious! These are the ride pictures they try to sell you after the ride. They're always way too expensive, so I just sneak a picture of them with my camcorder. They don't like it when people do that... I got yelled at.
Blazing Fury - look at the guy next to me!
Tennessee Tornado
Thunderhead - Colin's favorite. With no wait line, he rode it three times in a row.
Kentucky Visit
On our way home, we met up with John, a brain tumor friend of Steffanie's, and his family. What a wonderful family and great visit we had! They bought us lunch at a mexican restaurant and then invited us back to their place to visit more. I enjoyed jamming with John and his son on the guitars and keyboard. It was a nice break in the long drive back home.
