Washington State

Seattle, WA 2010

If this picture of the Space Needle looks like a drive-by it's because it totally is. I had a work conference in Redmond and Steffanie and I took a day to cruise around downtown Seattle. Instead of stopping to take it all in, Steffanie snapped a shot out of the car window.

However, we did make it back into the city the day we flew out and actually parked and walked around. We checked out Pike Place Market and even got to watch them toss some fish. That blurry thing left center of the picture on the right is a fish mid-flight to be wrapped and bought.
Enroute to Port Angeles

We had to make a couple of water traverses on our way to Port Angeles. I had to mentally prepare Steffanie for this prior to the trip. The first was a ride on the Edmonds/Kingston Ferry which takes you across a large expanse of Puget Sound. This is about a half-hour trip on a ferry large enough to carry around 220 vehicles. It's a nice smooth ride to the other side. Our second water course was over the Hood Canal floating bridge.

Port Angeles

Our first stop on the "Twilight Tour" of our trip was at Bella Italia, where Bella and Edward had their first dinner.

Olympic National Park

Traveling through the Olympic National Park was awesome with breathtaking views over every ridge. On our way from Port Angeles to Forks we drove along the southern edge of Lake Crescent.

Forks

You can take a guided "Twilight Tour" in forks on a mini bus for about $40/person. But when we stopped at the Chamber of Commerce in Forks, we picked up a map that lays out the tour for you for $0. It's such a small town that I think we finished the whole tour in about 15 minutes. The first stop was at the Swan residence and then it was off to the hospital to see Dr. Cullen's parking spot.

Then it was off to the high school (which was almost completely torn down for a re-build), the police station and finally the Cullen residence.

La Push

After shopping in Forks for souvenirs at Dazzled by Twilight, we headed on down the road to La Push to check out the beach. Along the way, we came upon Jacob Black's vacation rental.

Steffanie spent some time collecting stones and pieces of driftwood to bring back as souvenirs for her Twilight friends. The beach is covered with smooth flat skipping stones and littered with large masses of driftwood. The hazy conditions are typical for Forks and La Push as these areas are among the top cloudiest places in the U.S.
